Grade 6 zoomed with Holocaust Survivor, Albert Garih, from the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum. They learned about Mr. Garih’s sobering tale of survival during Germany’s occupation of France, and how he and his family overcame the darkness of war. 

 

This Zoom meeting relates to the novel Grade 6 has been reading about the Holocaust, “A Father’s Promise,” by Donnalynn Hess. This historical fiction novel follows 11-year-old Rudi Kaplan as he and his family navigate the horrors of World War II in Nazi-occupied Warsaw. Throughout the story, Rudi relies on his father's promise of reunion and the strength of his faith to survive.
