Meet one of our Grade 4 teachers, Mrs. Jennifer Black!

Meet one of our Grade 4 teachers, Mrs. Jennifer Black!

Mrs. Black was born in Phoenix Arizona, raised in Ghana, West Africa, Lesotho, South Africa, and Hobe Sound, Florida. Yes, her parents were missionaries.

This is her 14th year in education. She has taught English Kindergarten at Gimcheon University in South Korea before joining our Hanalani ‘Ohana.

Her hobbies are reading, going to the beach, and visiting coffee shops with friends.

A fun fact about her is she gave birth to her oldest son in a rural Korean hospital where he was the first all-foreign baby born. Every time she got on the elevator, doctors from all floors would address her as the "4kg baby mom."

Mrs. Black shares her love of teaching, “I love ‘constellation moments’ for my students- when each individual piece of information comes together to form a beautiful picture in their minds - they get to see the big picture. Learning is such a vulnerable task, and I love building relationships with my students and a safe environment where they feel confident to take risks and demonstrate their unique creativity.”

Mahalo, Mrs. Black! We are blessed to have you!

Our “GETTING TO KNOW YOU” series, will introduce our teachers so you can get to know them a little better. Stay tuned for more introductions!
