Who makes final admissions decisions?
The Admissions Committee makes the final decision, taking into account the application, testing, interview, references, grades, etc. Learn more about the Application Process.
When will we receive the admission decision?
Our application process is a rolling process. We encourage you to submit your application as early as possible, so the Admissions Committee can give your child's application careful consideration. Learn more about the Application Process or Apply Online.
Does Hanalani have a waiting list?
There is no waiting list, but once a grade is filled, additional qualified applicants are placed into a "wait pool", so equal consideration is given to all applicants, regardless of application date. Learn more about the Application Process.
What will my child be tested on during the application process?
K3 applicants do not require an admissions test. K4 - 6th grade applicants take an on-campus test. 7th - 12th grade applicants are required to submit scores from the Secondary School Admission Test (SSAT), and 12th grade applicants should submit copies of their scores on the SAT college entrance examination. How is the school divided?
The school's divisions are Early Childhood (ages 3-4), Elementary (Kindergarten- grade 6), and Upper School (grade 7- grade 12).
When does school year begin and end?
Starting dates vary by year, but the year usually begins in mid August and ends in late May. Learn more about school events at the All School Calendar.
Is bus transportation available?
Hanalani provides transportation in both directions for an additional cost. Routes and location vary based on ridership, but are typically available to most Leeward areas. How large are the classes?
The average class size in K3 & K4 is 16 students. 20 is the average in K5 and Elementary, and the Upper School average is 16. A program overview is available for each division at their home pages: Early Childhood, Elementary, and Upper School.
What are the student's lunch options?
Food service is provided by the Royal Café and includes the lunch coupon system.
Is there a uniform or dress code?
Dress codes vary by division. Uniforms can be purchased in our Campus Store or on the Land's End website. Learn more in the Parent & Student Handbook.
Does Hanalani have any religious affiliation?
Hanalani is a non-denominational Christian school whose primary mission is to train the children "of the household of faith" (Galatians 6:10) and provide opportunities for all children to hear and receive the gospel of Jesus Christ. Learn more about the history and mission of Hanalani.
