Cajiuat on the Campus

Cajiuat on the Campus

David Cajiuat: hes the guy on campus preaching the gospel. [God still] uses preaching to confound the wise, Cajiuat notes as he reflects on Matthew 13. This past Monday, September 8, Hanalani Schools Fall Spiritual Emphasis Week kicked off. As the speaker for this semester, full-time Evangelist Cajiuat has already spent hours with the students. I dont know if you want to write this down, but my favorite Oahu food is Giovannis Shrimp Truck. Cajiuat is certainly a fun guy to be around. I love teens and God has just given me a soft spot for them he says. Since hes only at his house in Alabama for less than half a year, Cajiuats enjoyments when he isnt preaching are mostly sports. I like everything from basketball to golf. Cajiuats ministry began when he was 23 and knew he was being called into a life of full time ministry. At the time, he was serving in the military. After getting married, Cajiuat attended Ambassador Baptist College, obtaining a Bachelors in Bible & Evangelism and a Masters in Theology. He remained in North Carolina, teaching at the college for a number of years while his kids grew up. I raised them at Ambassador Baptist College. He and his family now travel around the United States in the family minivan. They didnt bring it to Hawaii. Cajiuat says his family has always been very supportive since the switch to travelling evangelism and often participatory in his ministry. His three kids, Joshua 16, Rebekah 13, and Caleb 11, will sing or help out at the churches and youth camps that Cajiuat preaches at. The hardest thing [about being an evangelist] is not having a stable bed and the increasing gas prices. When travelling, Cajiuat stays with accommodations provided usually by the place hes preaching for. This includes peoples house, prophets chambers, basements, or sometimes people have a really big house and they give us, like, a whole wing. Its nice., Cajiuat says as he demonstrates a large space with his hands. Cajiuat citesThe Calvary Road by Roy Hession as one of the most influential books in his life outside of the Bible. It changed my perception of myself ... about being a servant ministry is not about position, its about people. Leadership is serving, not self. Cajiuat also gives credit to his former Pastor Ron Smith, Mark Burr, and Dr. Ron Comfort for being mentors and spiritual friends in his life. Those men poured their lives into me. At Hanalani, Cajiuat isnt just spending time with students behind the pulpit. He will be playing in a one-on-one basketball tournament during Spiritual Emphasis week. It will be Preacher vs. Students and well soon see who comes out on top. I think theyve underestimated him a bit says Dean of Students, Charles Hiers. This is Cajiuats fourth trip to the islands, and this full-blooded Filipino has no trouble blending in as a local. Cajiuat will be with Hanalani until September 12. Parents are invited to hear him speak at Spiritual Emphasis Week Parent Evening on Thursday, September 11.
